New York City Photo Trip Report – Part 1
July 29, 2012

How adorable is this micro-bumper-boats ride? Pretty darned.

The "Jump Around" spinner is themed to frogs, animals which are known for getting from place to place by jumping around. Yay for appropriate theming!

The airplane ride went up a couple of stories, so that's something.

The ride vehicles on this attraction remind me too much of the cars on Zamperla's Volare coasters. *shudders*

The Fun Slide did look to be delivering on the promise of "fun."

People say I'm very easily amused, and they're right, but I wish I could remember when slowly puttering around a small oval track was a delight, just because I had my hands on a "steering wheel." Those were the days, man.

The live entertainment I saw was this Buffalo Bill cowboy type who did some whip-cracking tricks. The dude had skills, and the children seemed enthralled. I was certainly impressed.

All in all, Victorian Gardens is fine. It would be perhaps too much trouble to dress up a temporary park any more than they do, so getting extra-critical is silly. That said, there's nothing very "Victorian" or "Gardens" about the joint. If only they'd scattered a few plants around, some period architectural embellishments, maybe a Ferris wheel and a carousel, rides that actually existed during the Victorian era oh for crying out loud it's a kiddie park, I'll just shut up and move on.
