Luna Park, Coney Island Trip Report July 2010
Nov. 7th, 2010

Another ride they "themed up" nicely was the Electro Spin.

Sure, it's just a Disk-O, but there was some discretionary spending here. (Dig the mighty Wonder Wheel in the background, another heritage attraction protected by its landmark designation.)

As I mentioned in the LA County Fair trip report, I'm a recent convert to these spin 'n' spews.

Good stuff!

In hindsight, I'm very sorry I didn't ride Luna's "Vertical Swings," Zamperla's version of the Star Flyer, here called the Brooklyn Flyer. (Not super-creative, but at least a tiny shout-out to Coney's home borough.) Must have been quite a marvelous view of the shimmering Atlantic up there. But this trip took place before the LA County Fair, when I finally mustered up the nerve to try one of these. So I sat this out while my friends rode. Bawk-bawk-begaaw!

They loved it.

USA! USA! USA!

The AstroTower, with the observation donut parked at half-mast (Mmmmm, observation donut... whaaghagahghg...). You'd think if there were no plans to reopen it, they'd've torn it down... Is it, too, a protected landmark?
