Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Trip Report
August 3, 2008

Speaking of spin 'n' spewers, if those things float yer boat, you're gonna go bananas at SCBB. They've got a ton of them.

So many bright colors....

On the deck up above the Cave Train Adventure is the Wisdom Tornado and a Round-Up dubbed the Cyclone. While this isn't a theme park by any stretch, the park did use some imagination when naming a lot of their attractions, giving them sea and weather-related monikers. (There's also a Crazy Surf tucked away back behind these two.)

Classics everywhere ya look.

Round the bend from the Tornado are the Tsunami, a Himalaya, and an old-school Ferris wheel.

Wow...

And a stone's throw away from said Ferris wheel is a Rock-O-Plane, a Ferris wheel for masochists. How many places do you still find these? Not too many.

Wheee!

Here's one that's less damaging to the system, the Cliffhanger. Great way to enjoy the ocean view.

Rock On!

Matterhorn fans will dig the Rock & Roll, another beautifully dolled-up fun machine.

The best, now and forever

And then there's my personal favorite, the Riptide. Yep, it's pretty much a stock Tilt-A-Whirl, but the ol' gal is in near-mint condition, right down to the evil clown graphics on the back of each tub. It had been ages sinces I've ridden one and the 'Tide indeed ripped it up good. (When I have the space and the financial wherewithal to do so, if ever, I'm owning one of these, that's a promise.)

Big, modern spinner

Spewers who like their rides more aggro will appreciate the Fireball, nestled up alongside The Giant Dipper's rear fan turn.

Ahoy, mateys!

Wouldn't rightly be a seaside park without a Pirate ship, wouldn't it? Aarrgh! (Did real pirates ever really say "Aarrgh"? And if so, which of them did first? These are questions I think about sometimes.)
