Knott's Scary Farm Halloween Haunt 2010
Oct. 17th, 2010

Speaking of primarily outdoor mazes, Labyrinth is still highly regarded in my book, if only for its dream-like atmosphere and gnarly Rock Monster (I'd love to have him in my garden someday). It will never be the scariest maze at the Haunt, but between the costuming, the music (some Danny Elfman stuff in there?) and the imagination behind it, I'll always give this one a thumbs-up. Maybe just needs some more surprises next year.

Elephant poop! Yeah, that's the thing I remember most about Uncle Bobo's Big Top of the Bizarre (again with the pretty useless 3D...). There's nothing wrong with tossing some humor into the whole Haunt salad, and if you like your screams mixed with lulz, this is your best bet. Again, a bit more brightly lit than I'd like, but it's still got far more nooks and crannies where the mad clowns can hide and jump at you, so it's more fun than the Muertos maze. If you're enough of a sadist to bring younger children to the Haunt (we saw some - crazy!), take 'em through this one and this one ONLY.

Of all the returning mazes, The Terror of London was by far the ass-kickingest. Very good last year, it was phenomenal this year. There's no question the Haunt team tweaked it heavily, with one scene in particular that was utterly stomach-turning (and made great use of a live Scareactor). If you're an unrepentant gore-hound, you'll appreciate the loving effort that was made to make this London blood-splatteringly terrifying. Another positively Do Not Miss.

Thanks again to all the a-maze-ing (hyuck!) people at Knotts for throwing not just a great Haunt, but a spectacular day as well! Happy Halloween, everybody!
