Cedar Point 2011 Trip Report
Sept. 1, 2011

Some of us, myself included, sat out riding Corkscrew. Others did not. They regretted it. (I'm amused to no end that Millennium Force's lift is as steep as Corkscrew's big drop..)

I can't emphasize this enough: Arrow Suspended coasters are a dying breed and those that remain must be saved. Even the lame ones. Iron Dragon, fear not; I'll lay down before the bulldozers if it comes to that.

Again, too harsh: Iron Dragon is not lame. It's just... um... less Ninja than I'd like.

After riding Windseeker (yes, it got working fine our second day and we did ride, all of us), Power Tower was far less intimidating than it was my last visit..

We blasted up one of the Space Shot legs first, facing Windseeker, and that was a hoot.

Then we walked right back around and did a Turbo Drop leg. And, you know, as appalling as it was years ago, it didn't bother me at all this time.

Sure, there's a strong tickle of anticipation at the top, waiting to get thrust down. But that paralyzing horror I initially felt during the trip up? Gone.

It's a beautiful structure and still a great, fun ride. But it's not anywhere near as testicle-shriveling any more, and that's not a complaint.

Finally, you can read my Windseeker review here.

And bringing this trip report to a close, I share with you a sign that stood not far from where we set up for the podcast. It's an interesting bit of Cedar Point history and it also serves to remind us of something important: Helen Keller was kind of hot.

That, and maybe we shouldn't complain too much about the little "hardships" we face each day.

Thanks again to Robin Innes and everyone at Cedar Point for working all year long to make it "America's Roller Coast" and so much more than that. Get to The Point, people!
