Cedar Point 2011 Trip Report
Sept. 1, 2011

Geographically and metaphorically about as far from Mean Streak as you can get at this park, there's Blue Streak, a modest, yet beloved diversion. (Which has "co-branding opportunity" written all over it: Viagra Presents: Blue Streak. When you need wood, go with the Blue.)

It's a nice, smooth out-and-backer, some decent airtime, nothing fancy, but a heritage attraction that does the job, and does it well. Good stuff.

(Another brief aside: flat rides like this are all over the damned place. Calypso is tucked away behind Raptor and next to Blue Streak, such a simple thing, but how nice that it's there. Not everyone who comes to Cedar Point wants to, or can, ride the giant coasters and there are plenty of other options.)

Ah, Banshee. What is it about stand-up coasters that makes them age so poorly? (I think Riddler's Revenge is the exception to the rule, but even that isn't quite as butter-smooth as it was back in the day. Is Georgia Scorcher still in decent shape?)

The stand-up fad didn't last all that long, so lesson learned, I guess.

I'd have been willing to give Mantis a go, but the word on the street is terrible. Look at it, though; so enticing...

What a commanding presence. But, again, we all had better things to do.
